Mercer Estate Dinner Pics
February 24, 2011
Last week’s dinner with Mercer Estates winemaker David Forsyth was amazing! Thank you to David for coming out and spending the evening with us. The wines were outstanding! We had a great time hosting and our guests thoroughly enjoyed tasting five courses paired with Mercer wines plus a surprise taste of Mourvedre with dessert.
In our excitement, we neglected to get a picture of the first course. Our chefs prepared a slice of smoked chicken breast on a croute, drizzled with chevre parsley dressing and served on a bed of arugula with crisp beet chips. The smokiness, fresh herbs, and peppery arugula made this an ideal pairing for the bright and crisp Pinot Gris.
The second course was “seafood meatloaf” with blood orange marmalade, tomato puree, and leeks. The combination of flavors complimented the peach and apricot notes of the Riesling, and the balanced acidity of the wine made us want another bite!

Our third course paired with the Chardonnay: prosciutto and Jarlsberg ravioli with cantaloupe buerre blanc. The buttery melon flavors and the savory ravioli in combination with the creamy Chardonnay made our mouths very happy. (As of tomorrow, we are offering the Mercer Chardonnay by the glass!)

Our chefs continued to please palates with the fourth course: mustard quiche in a roasted mushroom cap with merlot glaze and smoked ham, paired with the full and lush Merlot. Salty, tangy, earthy, and sweet all in one!

Fifth course: tasting the Cabernet, our chefs were inspired to create a Wagyu s’more and cascabel molé. Local Wagyu steak with a molé rub, grilled rare served with molé spiced graham cracker crumbs and housemade marshmallows – one toasted and one dusted in cocoa butter. The spicy molé was an amazing pair with the Cabernet! Our staff is still talking about it.

It was a such a fun night we can’t wait to do this again! We hope David joins us again next year.
We’ll keep you posted on future wine events… we plan on having many more.
We are pleased to offer three impressive wines from
